Custom Fashion Jewelry RFQ: A Specification Checklist for Buyers

October 16, 2026

A custom fashion jewelry RFQ is easier to evaluate when every supplier is quoting the same product. An attractive reference photo starts the conversation, but it rarely explains dimensions, material choices, finish expectations or the contents of a retail set. Put those decisions in one brief before comparing quotations. The aim is to make differences visible early, while the design can still be adjusted.

Identify the exact product and the buying unit

Give each requested style a reference code and a separate line in your buying sheet. Include a product link, an overall photograph and close views of the features you want retained. Mark which image controls the shape and which image only illustrates a finish. A supplier should not have to choose between conflicting pictures without knowing your priority.

For example, this three-pair rhinestone stud earring set contains square, circular halo and larger rounded-square halo designs. A photograph of one pair alone does not define the complete set. List all three pairs and state that the quotation covers one complete retail set, including the selected backs and presentation.

YUNINTL lists a MOQ of 360 sets. State the number of complete sets you need and ask how that quantity applies to the chosen style and color. Do not assume several unrelated earrings can automatically be combined to reach the minimum.

Translate visual preferences into a specification

Record the face width and height of each design, the overall drop where relevant, and any weight target that affects wearing comfort. Use a consistent unit and identify the measurement points on a simple drawing. A model portrait helps show proportion, but it cannot replace measured dimensions because camera distance and cropping change the apparent scale.

Distinguish the base material from the visible color. Gold-tone and silver-tone describe appearance; they do not, on their own, specify composition or a finish process. Ask for the proposed material and finish to be written into the quotation. If an existing sample is your color reference, label it and arrange to compare the new sample under the same lighting.

Describe decorative details separately: stone shape, stone placement, bead count, texture, joint position and the fastening arrangement. For a mixed earring set, the small square pair should not silently become a third halo pair during development. An annotated image makes that distinction easier to review.

Separate essential details from adjustable ones

Use two short lists. Essential details might include the three-design configuration, the front outline and the chosen color. Adjustable details might include a card layout or a small change to a non-visible connection. Ask the supplier to identify any proposed change beside the affected line instead of supplying a revised sample without an explanation.

This gives you a more useful quotation comparison. A lower price may reflect a different base material, fewer components or simplified decoration. Review those differences before treating two offers as equivalent. Keep quantity, packaging assumptions and the scope of the sample request visible in the same comparison sheet.

Define what the sample must demonstrate

Ask for the full set when the set is the unit you intend to sell. Compare the fronts within each matched pair, the attachment of decorative parts, the fastening arrangement and the finish around edges. Record comments by reference code so the next sample revision can be checked against specific points.

Write any intended product claims into the brief and ask what supporting documentation is available for the exact item. A picture of bright stones or a polished surface is evidence of appearance, not evidence of a material, durability or skin-contact claim. Keep customer-facing wording aligned with the agreed specification and relevant evidence.

Send a brief that can be quoted and reviewed

Before sending, check that the reference code, quantity, dimensions, finish reference, set contents, sample priorities, packaging request and destination appear together. Add your desired delivery date so feasibility can be discussed without presenting it as an already agreed production commitment.
